The decision to award this top prize was unanimous. The concept was clearly presented and has already entered the marketplace with significant revenue generation within its first few months of launch.
The judges were impressed with the innovative and applicable nature of the assignment platform. Both individual and group assignments can be created, shared and discussed. AssignmentHero has growth potential. Its key differentiating factor is the platform’s ability to provide schools and universities analytics about their students working on assignments. Shahed was excited to report that AssignmentHero has several academic institution partnerships pending.
uStash: a Novel Mobile Content Delivery System for Improving User Quality of Experience in Public Transport

This innovation attempts to solve the problem of high mobile data cost and low user quality of experience (QoE) in public transport due to challenges such as high user density, limited cellular coverage and unstable throughput caused by mobility. The solution could provide improved performance for the target audience, giving them seamless access to high-quality popular media and other contents even at a remote location with no/limited network coverage. The solution is found to consume slightly lower power when compared to using cellular networks, e.g. 3G and 4G.
The judges were fascinated with the innovation. The solution tries to solve the modern day problems of poor connectivity while commuting and data cost. The target audience is huge and global. The judges could easily envisage it being rolled out in public transport not only in the developed countries but also in the developing countries. Whilst, there is some more research required, and consideration needs to be given to the commercial and legal risks, there are no second thoughts relating to the enormous potential of the solution. Having considered the innovation’s stage of development, usefulness, scalability, ease of implementation, cost-benefit, etc., the judges unanimously decided to award uStash as a winner in IT Technical Innovation category.

There is ever increasing concern about online privacy, however many users do not realize that they
may be inadvertently broadcasting some sensitive data by liking or commenting on public posts.
Even though the user may have set much of their profile to private, their actions regarding public
posts can be used to determine a large amount of information, and this has potential to be used by
"un-friendly" third parties. This is a private auditing tool for a user’s Facebook account.
The app will traverse a user’s Facebook data and build relationships based on likes and comments. It
can also determine the user’s activity against specific subject areas, such as sports, politics etc.
The tool is simple and is a simple “health check” for privacy that anyone can use to help understand
the online profile that can be built up over time by the simple activity of liking or commenting on

In an era where passwords and PINs are becoming hard to keep track of or remember, the need for alternative authentication processes is needed.
Jagmohan presented a clear presentation complete with a live demonstration that proposed the use behavioural biometric modalities such as touch gestures and non-speech body sounds that can be ubiquitously measured by a vast majority of existing wearables. The live demonstration focused on using your mobile device (microphone) along with a “breath or nasal sniff” print. The judges were intrigued by the concept. However, additional research is needed to test for more physiological variables in the wearable device space.

Tien presented the challenges and barriers of mobile online health care system in Australia. The submission outlined the issues around the Australia’s healthcare system and related problems faced by patients. The submission adopted a mix research methodology both the quantitative (survey technique) and qualitative (interview technique).
The judges appreciate the effort which Tien has put through in the research and the submission. The judges believe that Tien is at a very first stage of innovation – idea generation/research. Tien needs to convert his research/idea into a solution which he can offer to the target audience. Once the innovation is complete, the judges would like to encourage Tien to once again apply to Nasscom Innovation awards with a well thought out presentation.

Data visualization is an important part of "big data" and a major component of making this
Interpretable by the user. A there has been a long history of financial and statistical data, it is
naturally to see many tools available to the user to assist in presenting data with multiple modes to
suit the nature of the data and the target audience.
As we see more areas open to analysis, e.g. traffic movement, the user of AI tools we will need
additional tools to help with the interpretation and presentation of data. CorpusViz is one such tool
that is focusing on the interpretation and presentation of voice data, specifically linguistic data.
The tool can capture the output of other language parsing tools to present the data the can be
readily interpreted by the linguists. The output of a two-person conversation is by two circles, and
the area indicates the length of the conversation, the thickness of the circumference shows the
number of unique words and the overlap shows the common words used by both parties. The circle
colour is used to identify the speakers. Hence a conversation that was short would show two small
circles, with a thin circumference and limited overlap. A conversation that was between to similar
people would feature larger circles, thicker circumferences and a large overlap indicating more
unique words and a common vocabulary between the two.
Although specifically developed for linguistics, the judging panel was excited that this could be used
to analyze conversation in the commercial sector such as sales calls and customer services calls. A
sales manager, say, does not need to listen to length calls to see if the call is of a positive nature or
short and dismissive. We see this as a huge opportunity to take this tool further and possible
integrate to popular CRM tools.
